RevBates.tv Global - The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for January 22, 2012

"We cannot recognize that It is, while we are believing that It is not.  Hence, it is written:  "they ... entered not in because of unbelief." (Hebrews 4:6)  We may enter in because of our belief, but we cannot enter while there is unbelief.  Here we come to a house divided against itself.  If we say we can only experience a little good, then we shall experience but a little good.  But, if we say, with Emerson, "There is no great and no small to the soul that maketh all," then we may experience a greater good because we have conceived it. ... Therefore, our belief sets the limit to our demonstration of a Principle which, of Itself, is without limit.  It is ready to fill everything, because It is Infinite.  So, it is not a question of Its willingness, nor of Its ability.  It is entirely a question of our own receptivity."  -  Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind [Introductory Chapter 3 - What It Does]
Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now.  However when he, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:  for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:   and he will show you things to come.  He shall glorify me:  for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.  All things that the Father hath are mine:  therefore said "I" ... that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.” - attributed to Jesus, The Gospel of John 16:12-15, The Holy Bible

Rev. Ike, “It doesn't matter, how things are.  It only matters how "I am" ... remember that ... and it will stand you in good stead.  Don't even bother to ask me "how are things" ... things are in the field of "response" ...  "thought" is in the field of "cause" ... only "I am" is G-d, things are not G-d ... whether they go to hell or not, it doesn't matter if the cow jumps over the moon and the dog runs away with the spoon ... or is it the dish runs away with the spoon ... it just doesn't matter ... it only matters how "I am" ... now doesn't that set you free?”

As we are reminded of the Principle that the radical Jesus dynamically brought announced to his followers; "it is done unto as you believe" ... we can know that our thoughts and our decisions must be definite ... we must definitely choose that which we want to experience and let the power of this decision guide our every thought and imaginings about it.  As the mystical Ernest Holmes reminds us, the Principle that Jesus brought forth can be stated as:  "We are surrounded by an Infinite Possibility.  It is Goodness, Life, Law, and Reason.  In expressing Itself "through us" ... It becomes more fully conscious of Its own being.  Therefore, It wishes to express through us and as It passes into our being, It automatically becomes the law of our lives."  This is what the word "Lord" symbolizes in the Holy Scriptures.

In his book, Ernest Holmes reveals the "secret that is already known" which he calls, "spiritual mind treatment."  It is an active, dynamic, form of prayer that Dr. Holmes discovered as he studied the way in which Jesus prayed as evidenced by the words in the scriptures.  The Master Mind Jesus stated, "know that you "have" ... and it is done unto you according to your belief" ... which gives us the dynamic quality that will "cause" the Principle, that is, the Creative Energy of G-d, to respond to us by "corresponding" to that which we have affirmed is "ours" ... and in this the individual can glorify G-d by tapping into the storehouse of Infinite Supply ... using the power of thought and belief.

As we look at "spiritual prayer" as taught my Ernest Holmes and the way in which Jesus prayed, we realize that our first thought must be to "recognize" G-d for it is in this "recognition" that we "cause" the Power, Spirit, and Intelligence of G-d to respond to us.  This "recognition" is not difficult to grasp; think of G-d, Infinite Spirit, as similar to the air that we breathe; it is pressing against us, surrounds us, flows through us as we inhale and exhale, it is below us and above us ... in other words, we are "in it" ... just as we are "in" the Presence of God, Infinite Spirit at all times.  And we can partake of the "things of the Spirit" just as we partake of the air that is available to us, by taking into our mentality that part of It that we need and require at the moment ... that is, that part of Power, that part of Spirit, that part of Intelligence.  The mystics have revealed that the Spirit of G-d is love, peace, joy, happiness, harmony, beauty, peace and strength.  In spiritual prayer we "recognize" these qualities of G-d, along with Power and Intelligence ... for as we "identify" with the Power and the Intelligence of G-d, we make "use" of both Love and Law in order to "claim" that which we seek to experience ... and know that we "have" it, can be it, or can do it ... as we speak our word for it as ours by spiritual authority.

G-d is still the Great Mystery for all of us, but, we don't have to wait until we know all there is about G-d in order for us to take that which we do know, and use it to glorify G-d through our works.  As we read in scripture, "faith without works is no faith at all."   Let's go back to the basic understanding of faith:  "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Faith is not hope ... yet, hope may inspire us to have a greater faith and to realize with confidence that that which we are seeking is seeking us ... and in this, as we know from the words of Jesus, is the truth that will give us each day our daily bread ... or that which meets our daily requirements ... not just that which meets our needs .. but, all of it ... enough to share and to spare.

Keep the faith!
