RevBates.tv Global - The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for January 29, 2012

"The practice of the science of mind calls for a positive understanding of the Spirit of Truth; a willingness to let this inner Spirit guide us, with the conscious knowledge that "The Law of the Lord is perfect." (Psalms 19:7)  And we must believe this to be a fact.  In so far as our thought is in accord with this perfect Law, it will accomplish and nothing can hinder it.  "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35) said the beautiful Jesus, as he strove to teach his disciples the immutability of the Law of Righteousness (right-thinking)."  Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind [Introductory Chapter 4 - How To Use It]

Jesus said, “... the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father [Divine Spirit] in spirit and in truth:  for the Father responds to these things.  God is Spirit:  and they that worship God must worship in spirit and in truth.” - The Gospel of John 4:22-24, The Holy Bible

Thomas Troward [Dore Lectures], “My mind is a center of Divine operation.  The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression, and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth.  Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner in me; consequently in my own special world, of which I am the center, it moves forward now to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before.”

The words of the mystical Ernest Holmes, the Master Mind Jesus and the studied Thomas Troward, give us insight into what they discovered about our relationship to that Power, Intelligence and Spirit that works for us, through us, as an immutable and changeless law of "correspondence."  But we must have within our own heart, mind and soul, that which is to be "corresponded" to.  We have all heard that if we "change our thinking" we can change our life, and it would be wonderful if it were as simple as that ... but it's not.

For most of us, we have to "change" our understanding of our relationship with G-d, with Life, and with Mind, which is Spirit.  We must discover the truth within ourselves that no one has been given any greater or lesser access to the Power and Intelligence of G-d than any one else.  Consider this point about Jesus, Ernest Holmes and Thomas Troward; Jesus often quoted from the Book of Isaiah as Isaiah had revealed a greater realization of G-d than those before him.  Thomas Troward "studied" the Bible to discover the knowledge and awareness of the Nature of the Divine as it relates to the spirit within us.  The mystical Ernest Holmes, studied Isaiah, Jesus, Troward and a host of other spiritual philosophies and stated that yes, it is true that G-d is All and Lovely and Wonderful and Available to all of us, but how do we become self-empowered by this Power, Intelligence and Spirit? ... in other words, how do we "reveal" G-d's Spirit, Intelligence and Power in our own personal experience of Life?

The great teacher, Dr. Raymond Charles Barker wrote:  "My thirty years of ministry in the Metaphysical Field have convinced me that the greatest gift which we have to offer the world is the science of correct mental work, which we call treatment or scientific prayer [spiritual prayer].  It is our only means of changing consciousness spiritually, and only the students who know how to give themselves treatments will prove our teachings [the same can be said of the followers of Jesus].  The others will listen, read and remain at the same level of thought as they were when they first came to our doors.  Our Movement has been greatly hampered by sincere people who believed in the Truth but who failed to learn how to treat [pray with conviction], and therefore failed to make demonstrations [realize the results of their prayers]."

I can provide here many examples and testimonials of people who have used spiritual prayer to embody in their consciousness new conditions, new opportunities and greater health and wealth, but these examples and testimonials will not change our consciousness ... only by doing that which they did, will.  Just as the reading of the "works" of Jesus do not give us the ability to heal, prosper and bless ... which can be done only by "following" him; that is, doing as he did, believing as he believed, cultivating a greater faith as he did, and praying in the way in which he prayed ... affirming G-d as All-in-All and through-All.  The teachings of Isaiah, Jesus, Troward and Ernest Holmes, provides us the basis of spiritual prayer ... that is, prayer that draws its Power, Spirit and Intelligence from G-d.

Spiritual prayer is not to "convince" G-d of anything, but to "convince" our own self and to create within our consciousness the faith that we can realize in our experience that which we hold as a definite and specific "conviction" of "having" ... first in mind, then in the visible.  We take this into our mind, first, by "recognition" that G-d responds to us by corresponding to our faith and belief that there is only One Power, All-Power, and this is a Power for Good; our good and the good for all ... "besides me there is none other, nothing" we can read in the Book of Isaiah ... then we "recognize" this Power as Intelligence and Spirit; not just some Intelligence, but All-Intelligence, and not just as some Spirit, but the Creative Spirit of the Universe as "revealed" as all that we see, hear, feel, taste and touch.  Secondly, we must take in our mind an "identification" with this Power, this Intelligence and this Spirit; we must know that we have the power available to us, that what we pray for is intelligent and we must get a sense of "having" it so that our mind is in tune with the spirit of it.  We can't have faith and belief in something that we cannot conceive ... and so we must begin to stir up the spirit within us and feel the assurance, the confidence, and the expectation that not only is there a power, intelligence and spirit within us ... but through this identification, we are making use of the Power, Intelligence and Spirit that is universal and omnipresent; available to all, everywhere present.

This "recognition" and this "identification" become a conviction in our mind as we consistently put spiritual prayer into practice.  Without this conviction, our declarations, realizations and affirmations, become like "lukewarm water" ... not hot, not cold ... lacking the energy necessary to attract a corresponding response from the Love and Law of the Spirit, G-d ... in any definite or specific way.

We can learn from Isaiah, Jesus, Troward and the mystical Ernest Holmes; "God is Spirit:  and they that worship God must worship in spirit and in truth.” ... but to realize the good results of our prayers, we must "follow them" ... believe as they believed, have faith in the All-ness of G-d, and in doing so, Spirit will be revealed in our mind, our heart, our souls, and in the experiences of our life in marvelous and wondrous ways.

AND SO IT IS!

Keep the faith!
