The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for February 14, 2016

"Love is life.  And if you miss love you miss life." - Leo Buscaglia

So many people live lives with a troubled mind because they fail to recognize Love; that is, the Omnipresent Love that Is G-d.  This failure to be aware of G-d's Omnipresence causes so many to believe that they are missing love in their lives.  But, it is our false ideas about Love that causes us to feel the loneliness and the heartache of the absence of Love.  Romantic love will never equal the joy and the happiness that fills our heart when we become aware of Love's Omnipresence in our lives.  Love is not dependent on person, place or thing.  It Is and It will always be embracing us, sustaining us and expressing through us and for us no matter what the seeming circumstances and conditions we may find ourselves in.

In the New York Times online edition today there is a "Opinion" article from a young woman of 35 who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.  The young woman writes:  "I am a historian of the American prosperity gospel. Put simply, the prosperity gospel is the belief that God grants health and wealth to those with the right kind of faith."  And in these simple words we find the "errors" of most people's beliefs about their relationship with G-d and Love and Life Itself.  There is no "right kind of faith" for our faith will always be as unique to us individually as we are unique "off-spring" of an Infinite Creator.  It is this acceptance that our faith must follow certain concepts of belief that causes so many to lose sight of themselves as the "image and likeness of G-d" ... not the image and likeness of a finite degree of Spirit, Power and Intelligence represented as our human form, but an expression of a Spirit, Power and Intelligence so infinite that it is beyond the ability of the human mind to conceive.  The most glaring error in the article is to consider that G-d could withhold Itself and Love from us.  This would defy the nature of the Intelligence that permeates all things in the universe in which we live.

In the article posted to the New York Times online we can read:  "The modern prosperity gospel can be directly traced to the turn-of-the-century theology of a pastor named E. W. Kenyon, whose evangelical spin on New Thought taught Christians to believe that their minds were powerful incubators of good or ill. Christians, Kenyon advised, must avoid words and ideas that create sickness and poverty; instead, they should repeat: “God is in me. God’s ability is mine. God’s strength is mine. God’s health is mine. His success is mine. I am a winner. I am a conqueror.” Or, as prosperity believers summarized it for me, “I am blessed.”
What these words fail to make the reader aware of is that what we believe to be true about G-d we are to believe to be true for G-d's creations; all of them and everyone of us.  If we affirm that "G-d's health is mine" but we "believe and accept as true" that our neighbor or someone we know has cancer, is mentally deranged or ignorant then we have made illness, emotionalism and lack of intelligence "real" and since we believe that these things are present then these things are always a possibility for us too.  It is not wisdom for us to "deny facts" but it is also not wisdom to believe that G-d has anything to do with our willingness to believe in things that diminish the health, intelligence and power for ourselves and others.  A short but profound statement of Truth is "facts change but the Truth does not" ... in other words, G-d is always "being G-d in us" but we are not always "aware" that this is so.  Someone asked Creflo Dollar why "bad things happen to good people?" and he replied that is was because "the good people aren't good all the time."  And this is the truth but the error of the mass-mind is our belief in "good people" ... as the Master Mind Jesus stated "don't call me good, only the Father (Spirit) is good" ... so we don't accept that people are either good or bad but we accept and believe that no matter what they may be doing or being, G-d is still present "as them."  This is what Jesus meant in his profound statement "to love your neighbor as your self."

More from the article:  "The prosperity gospel holds to this illusion of control until the very end. If a believer gets sick and dies, shame compounds the grief. Those who are loved and lost are just that — those who have lost the test of faith."  This is awful and wrong.  There is no "illusion of control."  We do have control of our thoughts and beliefs to the very end of this life and beyond, but it is woefully wrong to believe that someone is "responsible" for something that they have no awareness of; the Truth.  The shame, if there should be any at all, lies with those who perpetuate a god of duality and caprice and a human that is separate and apart from the Infinite, Eternal Loving embrace of the Divine.

As we lift our awareness to Love as Omnipresent and Omnipotent within everyone, then we shall become aware of just how much love we all have within us to express and how much love we receive each and every day in a myriad of ways.  And finally from H. Jackson Brown, Jr.:  "Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye."

Keep the faith!
