we are drawing from the infinite we need never be afraid of taking more
than our share. That is not
where the danger lies. The
danger is in not sufficiently realizing our own richness, and in looking
upon the externalized products of our creative power as being the true
riches instead of the creative power of spirit itself.
If we avoid this error, there is no need to limit ourselves in
taking what we will from the infinite storehouse:
“All things are yours.”
And the way to avoid this error is by realizing that the true
wealth is in identifying ourselves with the spirit of opulence.
We must be opulent in our thought.
Do not “think money,” as such, for it is only one means of
opulence; but think opulence, that is, largely, generously, liberally,
and you will find that the means of realizing this thought will flow to
you from all quarters, whether as money or as a hundred other things not
to be reckoned in cash.
Troward, Collected Essays
As we understand the Law of
Circulation, we begin to heal the remnants of the false ideas about
money in our consciousness. In the Gospel of Matthew we can read:
"Freely you have received, freely give." Dr. Holmes
writes in the Science of Mind: "When the law of circulation
is retarded, stagnation results. It is only as we allow the Divine
current to flow through us on and out, that we really express life.
The law of giving and receiving is definite. Emerson tells us to
beware of holding too much good in our hands."
We must know that G-d is both the
"cause" and the "effect" ... and in this
consciousness we never need fear that we will ever lose that which
"is ours to give." The Law of Circulation will always
provide for us a way in which to give of our money and a way in which to
receive in return. The ease of giving and receiving comes from
knowing that we are giving from an infinite Source, G-d. Each and
everyone of us activate the Law of Circulation often in our lives ... we
just don't always "consciously" recognize that we are doing
so. When we recognize that we are activating the Law of
Circulation, we must also recognize that "as we give, we
receive." And in this consciousness, we draw to us that which
is ours. Money has no power, it is just paper and ink, or metals
... the only power that money can ever have is the power we give to it.
We have the power, in our mind, to draw money to us, and the power to
block the flow of money from us.
Many false ideas have been associated with
money. In the scriptures we can read that Paul wrote that
"money is the root of all evil" and this has been taught for
centuries with good intentions, but, Paul's thinking was in error.
The Master Mind Jesus stated, "all that the Father hath is
mine" ... and so we must learn to accept that which is ours, and in
the process deny all ideas and thoughts that negate our power to draw to
us our good, which includes money.
Many religious and spiritual teachings will
tell us we must tithe to them, and in doing so we will have a greater
realization of G-d as our Source. And we are told that we should
tithe 10% ... and if this is not possible, we should tithe what we can
but our goal should be to increase our tithe until it reaches 10% of our
income. This, to me, seems to be just so much superstition.
There is no magic in metaphysics. The Law of Circulation does not
contain a "special provision" for churches, spiritual centers
or synagogues. They too, must not see their money coming from
their congregations, but from the One Source, G-d. Many people of
wealth give more than 10% to their churches, spiritual centers and
synagogues with no thought that it is a tithe but a necessary financial
support for something that is important to them. I believe that
our giving should never be mechanical or from obligation, but
"freely give" from our heart to those things that we value.
Primitive people thought G-d demanded sacrifice, but we know that G-d
only demands our love and recognition.
From Dr. Frank Richelieu: "When we
come into a true understanding of the power of thought, we make wise
choices that expand our experience of life. Limitation is a state
of mind and yet it is very real to the one experiencing it. Know
today that Universal Law does not know limitation. It is infinite,
yet it does not even know itself as infinite. It knows only to act
upon the direction given it. ... The limitation you experience, you
place upon yourself. It is self-imposed. If you believe you
are limited, you will experience limitation. You are constantly
addressing your subconscious mind whether you are aware of it or
As we take the words from Thomas Troward and Dr.
Frank Richelieu into contemplation, we realize that it is our thoughts
that give power to all things in our lives, including money. It is
never necessary to see ourselves as having money or not having money,
instead we can see ourselves always confident that we have what we need
when we need it. Let's not let thoughts of money become a
distraction that hinders our demonstrations of good. We can develop an image of ourselves as always
being very generous. Generous with others and generous with
ourselves ... never withholding that which we desire to give or desire
to receive. We can accept in our mind that we draw from an
infinite Source and that G-d withholds nothing from us that is ours by
right of consciousness. We take possession of all things in our
Let us affirm here and
now that we are using the only Power there is each time we lift up our
mind to G-d, setting the Law in motion, and assume the good that we
made manifest the very instant that it is required.
SO IT IS!
