"Within
you is the power to be yourself. Jesus dared to live his own life,
to be himself. He kept contact with his Source. He did not
try to copy anyone else. He was not here to imitate. He was
here to take leadership in life. He was showing by example that
each of us is unique and endowed with the creative power of Life to
express our uniqueness - as long as we keep a conscious contact with our
Source intact."
- Dr.
Frank Richelieu, The Art Of Being Yourself
To
imagine the Omnipresence, Omnipotence, and Omniscience, of the Infinite
is impossible for the human mind, for the finite cannot embody the
infinite. This would be like imagining a wave can embody the
entire ocean. It is not possible. And for us to embody the
idea that the Infinite is "infinitely individualized" as all
forms of Life, may at first seem impossible, yet, in degree, it is
possible through a greater understanding of what is known about
Life. We have known for decades that every man, woman and child
has unique fingerprints. This discovery was just part of a greater
discovery to come. Today, scientists are discovering aspects of
DNA that can trace our ancestry back centuries and beyond. From
Wikipedia: "Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a
nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions used in the
development and functioning of all known living organisms and some
viruses. The main role of DNA molecules is the long-term storage of
information."
Through the mental action of faith, the mystics have
believed that we are each uniquely created, centuries before it was
discovered. Looking at nature, it is apparent that there is an
Intelligence that permeates the Universe as we know it, always expanding
... uniquely, infinitely individualized. Always seeking that which
is new, that which is for this moment in time. And often there
have been instances where this "new-ness" has impacted the
collective consciousness spiritually. The teachings of the
Tipitaka,
the Bhagavad-Gita, the Torah, and the Bible ... all made a dynamic impact on
consciousness, along with the personas of Buddha, Krishna,
Moses, Isaiah and Jesus. Each teaching a revelation from G-d Mind
that was unique, yet their teachings contained threads of the same Truth that
revealed even a greater Truth to be discovered.
The Master Mind
Jesus had the awareness of this when he stated, "These things I do
and greater things, still, shall you do." He was telling us
not to see his teaching as an end-all, but an expansion of that which
had already been revealed. This is why he shunned traditions and
symbols because each in their own way prevent us from discovering our
own revelations from infinite Intelligence. If we rely on someone
else's ideas, we will never reveal the right ideas for ourselves.
Jesus practiced silent meditation which was unheard of in the Jewish
culture. His affirmative method of prayer was not practiced by
anyone before him ... yet, it was revealed to him and he demonstrated it
by healing, prospering, and blessing all those who came to him.
Had he followed only the spiritual and religious practices of the
culture, he would not have discovered these things.
Now, what does this have to do with us?
Just about everything, for it shows that not only are we
"infinite-individualizations" of the One Spirit, G-d, but that
we are here to express this individualization in our own unique
way. We are not to look for "role models" ... or to
aspire to be "just like" so-and-so ... but to let G-d be G-d
in me! Doing so, will affect every aspect of our lives, including
our prayer life. Since G-d has created us uniquely, then we must
find our own unique way to relate to G-d. This does not mean that
we totally ignore ancient wisdom or even contemporary teachers, but that
we must find our own unique way of spiritualizing our communion with G-d
and our demonstration of spiritual laws. No one can think for us,
and no one has the same relationship with G-d as we do. All things
are created by thought for we live in a mental universe. This is
why Emerson wrote, "Imitation is suicide." At some point
we all have the realization within ourselves that in order to be free,
to be happy, and to be satisfied, we must express and live to that
essence of the Divine that is uniquely a part of who we are.
G-d
doesn't Xerox and there are no carbon copies of any one of us.
This Infinite Presence that breathes Life through us, has gifted each of
us with a unique expression of Itself. And Its only desire is that
we express this life uniquely as beauty, as joy, as happiness, as
harmony, as peace, as strength, and as love ... in all that we do.
No one can do it for us, and no one can teach us how to do it, but G-d,
Infinite Spirit. This is why Emerson wrote: "That which
I am to do best, only my Maker can teach me."
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
