you know what prayer is? Just an earnest desire that we take to
God - to Universal Mind - for fulfillment. As Montgomery puts it -
"Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed."
It is our Heart's Desire. At least, the only prayer that is worth
anything is the prayer that asks for our real desires. That kind
of prayer is heard. That kind of prayer is answered. ... Mere lip
prayer gets you nowhere. It doesn't matter what your lips may say.
The thing that counts is what your heart desires, what your mind images
on your subconscious thought, and through it on Divine Mind.
"And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites are; for they love
to pray standing in the synagogue and at the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have
their reward." - Matthew 6:5."
Collier, The Coming of The Spirit/The Life Magnet
become responsive, I had to move my awareness off the surface, to move
deeper. This was not limited to baseball, but applied to my life
off the field as well. Like many of us, I had falsely believed
that the superficial dramas of my daily life defined who I was.
Lost in my own story, I was like an actor who thought the character he
was playing was reality. However, as I disconnected my awareness
from my mind and emotions, the surface of my being, things changed."
Way Of Baseball
Shawn Green states
that his book, "The Way Of Baseball" is a metaphor for life,
yet I found in the book, an unconscious blend of prayer and meditation
that perhaps even the author was not fully aware of. As Robert
Collier states, "prayer is our Heart's
Desire" ... and in this he is stating that our prayer that
receives a response from the Intelligence of G-d, is that which is most
desired in our heart. This desire may appear to be something
insignificant to our conscious mind, but at a deeper level, it is a
heart-felt desire that seeks to be fully expressed. We could
perhaps even say it is at the soul-level, something that is so deeply
desired that we aren't even fully conscious of how vey much we desire
it. And, for those who meditate or sit in the silence ... our soul
is open and receptive to the Spirit to respond to our deepest heart's
desires both those that we are conscious of and those that we are not
fully aware of.
Too often prayer is an unintentional
manipulation, of G-d and of other people, and this will never get us the
results that we desire to experience. Our prayers must consciously
lack any thought of manipulation or the taking away of anyone's free
choice, or liberty. When we disconnect from the "surface
stuff" ... emotions and negative feelings ... as Shawn Green
realized, we shall find a greater trust and confidence that our good
desires shall be made manifest in our experience with grace and ease.
We do not need to resist anything, but instead seek only to go deeper
within our mind believing that this Intelligence that brought this
desire to our awareness, is supporting us in having it, being it or
doing it, whatever good thing it may be, as the fact that it has come to
our awareness, and we desire it, makes it available to us.
This is the time of year when two of my
favorite things are available in abundance; baseball games and
watermelon. I look forward to this time of year so that I can
enjoy these simple pleasures. It is in gratitude for the simple
pleasures in life that we can gain a greater sense of what is important
to us and realize a greater trust and ease in dealing with the issues
that confront us in life. I believe it is especially important for
us when dealing with issues that disturb our mind and bring worry,
doubts and fear into our mind. As we understand more fully the
instruction of the Master Mind Jesus that "it
is done unto you as you believe" ... we realize that
we cannot solve a problem at the level of the problem. Our mind
must be free of doubt, worry and negative emotions in order for the
Spirit to bring to our awareness the solutions and ideas that we
require. Jesus called us to "let not
your heart be troubled" for he knew that infinite
Intelligence is always responding to what we are believing and accepting
as true. Robert Collier's statement; "the
thing that counts is what your heart desires, what your mind images on
your subconscious thought" and in this
we gain a greater understanding of how G-d Intelligence responds to that
which we dwell on in our mind.
Each and every one of us has the ability to
change our thoughts and to use our imagination to impress upon our
subconscious mind that which we claim to be ours to have, to do, and to
be. As we find that something that brings us into a state of calm
relaxation, we can affirm the good that we desire with confidence and
faith and know that the thoughts that we think, the images we bring into
our mind, and the words that define this good desire in a specific and
definite way, shall find the perfect response from the Spirit as It
corresponds to that which we think, imagine and declare for ourselves,
just as immediately as gravity responds to us in the physical.
Let's take these words from Dr. Frank Richelieu
into our mind as the truth for us: "Today I expand my idea of
myself. Today I expand my concept of myself. Today I expand
my belief in myself. What I believed yesterday belongs to
yesterday. What is important is what I believe today." Let
us be joyously radiant as we expect to receive all that which we believe
to be ours through the awareness of our good desires. Let's know
that the "home run spirit" is within us, waiting for us to
"stir it up" as we move forward knowing that more and more
good is available to us, right now, right where we are.
SO IT IS!
