The Way to a Wonderful Life, Sunday, May 11, 2014
Listen to the Radio Broadcast of this
great Albert Einstein stated that, "Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world." And most of us are aware of
this statement even those who do not realize the power of our
imagination. Einstein draws upon our imagination to understand
these words. Who but someone willing to imagine could understand
the words "encircles the world"? With our imagination we
can enjoy the evening at a sidewalk cafe in Paris and still not leave
where we are. We can enjoy wearing the finest of clothes without
going shopping. In these imaginings we are using our mind not in a
sense of fantasy but as a way to enlarge our capacity to be conscious of
the abundance in the world. Often words are spoken from the
imagination in order to get our attention. Jesus made use of this
technique when he said, "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his
heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be
granted him." Take his words into your mind and imagine it
... and if you do, you have defied reason and in turn have expanded your
power of imagination.|
The great teacher/minister Dr.
Joseph Murphy wrote this about imagination: "The
faculty of image-making is called imagination. It is one of the
primal faculties of mind and has the power to project and clothe our
ideas, giving them visibility on the screen of space. We can
discipline, control, and direct our imagination constructively and get
what we want in life, or we can use it negatively and imagine what we
don't want in life. The mental images which we contemplate and
consciously accept as true are impressed on our subconscious mind (soul)
and made manifest in our life. ... Imagination is the mighty instrument
used by famous scientists,
artists, poets, physicists, inventors, architects, and mystics.
When the world says, "It is impossible, it can't be done," the
person with vivid imagination says, "It is done!"
The Barbados born teacher, Neville, taught that the
"Imagination" is our "Christ within" ... that it is
creative and powerful. I believe that our imagination can be very
useful in "stirring up the spirit within" and enabling us to
"transcend" the conditions and circumstances that we want to
move-through. And for many of us, these conditions and
circumstances have been effects of our acceptance of the struggle and
limitation that we have learned form the world. We are all
influenced by the collective consciousness to some degree but let us
focus on potentials and possibilities. And we can do this with
ease by understanding the creative power of the imagination.
Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher
and considered a central figure in modern philosophy, said "Happiness
is not an ideal of reason, but of imagination." And
this opens us up to a new ideal for many of us and that is to
"express" the nature of G-d more in our life through the use
of our imagination. We know that the nature of G-d is living-ness,
giving-ness and forgiving-ness. As we use our imagination to
imitate the nature of G-d we can find that by doing so we "stir up
the Spirit within" and begin attracting to ourselves more and more
good. We can use our imagination to give to others those things
that we desire for ourselves ... that is, give money, give cars, give
vacations, give whatever it is that we desire for ourselves. As we
make it so vivid in our mind that we almost feel like it is true then we
shall be in tune with the Infinite in a greater way. And in the
doing of this our mind is "stayed on the good" and this can
only draw more and more good into our own life in amazing ways. As
we express, through our imagination, more of the nature of G-d then we
shall find ourselves confident of more power, more love and more joy in
our own lives.
Master Mind Jesus taught in parables because he was aware that these
simple stories could arouse the imagination of those who listened to
them. Once our imagination becomes alive with the images of good
and wonderful experiences we are realizing that Life is more than just
what we see with our physical eyes. So much of it, the most
important aspects of it, are beyond the physical senses. This
realization we must have to achieve the level of awareness to receive
all the good that is ours to receive. Jesus declared, “All
that the Father hath is mine.”
Just imagine this is true for you too!
SO IT IS!
