seems so much of the Media and U.S. Government is filled with talk
of “Health Insurance.” Deductibles
and co-pays are too costly and for some the insurance itself is
beyond their financial means. It
is a reflection, once again, of how important it is to put our faith
in Something greater than government and insurance companies.
If we don’t have a “health consciousness” then we need
to develop a “wealth consciousness.”
The Law of Mind works the same for both, but in our
“human-ness” one may be more easily realized than the other.
As we develop the “consciousness of wealth” through our
faith in this Something greater we must find the time in our lives
to “impress” our consciousness with wealth; not just an abundant
universe, and not the wealth that exists in the possession of
mankind, but the wealth that we can draw into our lives from the
ideas that the Intelligence that is the Source of All Creation, will
bring to our conscious mind so that we can realize “personal
Dr. Joseph Murphy wrote in this best-selling book, “The
Power of Your Subconscious Mind”:
is no such thing as a free lunch. You must give to receive. If you
give mental attention to your goals, ideas, and enterprises, your
deeper mind will back you up. The key to wealth is to apply the laws
of the subconscious mind by implanting it with the idea of wealth
…. what you consciously affirm, you must not mentally deny
a few moments later as this will neutralize the good you have
affirmed. Keep in mind that you have a fundamental right to be
rich. You are here in this world to lead the abundant life and be
happy, radiant and free. You should, therefore, have all the money
you need to lead a fulfilling, happy and prosperous life.
and poverty have their origins in your own mind. You must come to a
clear-cut decision that you intend to be wealthy and successful.
Wealth is not a matter of chance, luck, or coincidence. The only
chance you have is the chance you make yourself.”
Too often people lack the conviction that they can be
wealthy, but if we were to read the histories of many wealthy people
we will realize that the majority of them received their wealth by
acting on an idea, an intuitive thought, or an inner whisper of
guidance from the Spirit of Intelligence that knows “the way to
wealth” for them. Too
often, people allow themselves to be convinced that they have
“low-self-esteem” which is just another way of saying that they
don’t really know who they are. We
are not what “the world” has taught us to believe we are and the
image we see in the mirror is only the smallest part of what we are.
We are “of G-d”; that is, Spirit, Life, Intelligence,
Power. This is the truth
that we must guard in our mind against all things that contradict
Boone Herring writes in his book, "Mind Surgery" (1931)
.... "Man's effort to frighten us
into being "good" has made him lie tremendously about the
whole thing for we have been taught that God punishes us for
infractions of man's moral code. This is too silly to need
further comment. Does electricity punish you if you get
crossed up with it or does electricity merely express its nature?
Answer this and you answer all moral questions. ... This shows us
the power of our own minds to forgive ourselves for all past
condemnation. Jesus said: "But, to prove that the
son of man (that is you) has the power to forgive sins on earth I
say unto you, arise and go into thy house"; and the man arose
and went into his house - healed of palsy. This man was simply
paralyzed with self-pity and self-condemnation and this mental
action had reacted into his motor nervous system and paralyzed his
nerve centers. ... In freeing yourself from bondage, you are to
understand at once that every time you think backward you are trying
to get water into the jug - and what you are seeking to accomplish
is to get some water out of the jug. ... Self-condemnation plays no
part in the life toward mastery. Create new conditions - you
cannot, by any conceivable possibility, redeem past conditions.
This is why Jesus said: "Let the dead bury the dead." ...
This total non-recognition of the past is what blots our so-called
sins (self-inflicted-nonsense) and
makes us whiter than snow."
Now, there are those who “relish the idea of Hell” …
that is, for other people. Ministers
with large churches have lost their congregations because they
finally had the realization of the truth that Hell is a
man-made-false-idea and is in effect a mockery of G-d’s
ever-lasting Love for mankind. If
we hold this idea of a hell or a punishing god in our mind, we must
loose it from our mind or face the personal effects of this belief
in our life experiences. A
belief in Hell or a punishing god is an obstruction to both a wealth
consciousness and a health consciousness.
Ralph Waldo Trine wrote “In
Tune with the Infinite” in 1897; in his words:
It is through the
instrumentality of the mind that we are enabled to connect the real
soul life with the physical life, and so enable the soul life to
manifest and work through the physical. The thought life needs
continually to be illumined from within. This illumination can come
in just the degree that through the agency of the mind we recognize
our oneness with the Divine, of which each soul is an individual
form of expression.
In the degree that we come into the recognition of our own
true selves, into the realization of the oneness of our life with
the Infinite Life, and in
the degree that we open ourselves to this divine inflow, does this
voice of intuition, this voice of the soul, this voice of God, speak
clearly, and in the degree that we recognize, listen to, and obey
it, does it speak ever more clearly, until by-and-by there comes the
time when it is unerring, absolutely unerring, in its guidance.
GOD is the Spirit of Infinite Life. If we are partakers of
this life and have the power of opening ourselves fully to its
divine inflow, it means more, so far to its divine inflow, it means
more, so far as even the physical life is concerned, then we may at
first think. For very clearly, the life of this Infinite Spirit,
from its very nature, can admit of no disease, and if this is true,
no disease can exist in the body where it freely enters, through
which it freely flows.
Let us recognize at the outset that, so far as the physical
life is concerned, all life is from within outwards. There is an
immutable law which says: 'As within, so without, cause, effect.' In
other words, the thought forces, the various mental states and the
emotions, all have in time their effects upon the physical body.”
And, I would add, our body of affairs; finances, career success,
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, the famous American minister
and author of “The Power of Positive Thinking” followed the
technique of affirmation in “displacing” from our mind those
thoughts and ideas that no longer benefit us or support us in our
good. He gives us this
wonderful affirmation: “I
place this day, my life, my loved ones, my work in the Lord's hands.
There is no harm in the Lord's hands, only good. Whatever happens,
whatever results, if I am in the Lord's hands it is the Lord's will
and it is good.”
Let us be reminded that the word “Lord” refers to our
mind in tune with the Infinite Intelligence of G-d.
And in this state of mind, we begin the development of our
