Weekly Message for Sunday, July 6, 2003

Each and every one of us has something that we pray for or hope for in our lives.  And for most of us, as soon as we get it, we will want something else.  As we move forward in this Thing Called Life and move forward in our studies of Religious Science, we find that there are infinite possibilities and infinite numbers of things to experience.  I believe that Life is about experience ... that Spirit ... God ... experiences this world through us, as us and for us.

A week or so ago, I was having a conversation with someone about spiritual things.  This person was a retail sales person working in a typical retail store.  He made the statement to me, "that there is certainly nothing spiritual about this job."  His limited ideas of Spirit gave him the certainty that somehow there is a place where God is not.  Now, we know in Religious Science that this is impossible ... Omnipresence Is Omnipresent ... God Is All, In All ... All and All ... and this is the Truth.  Most of us however, think like this man, all too often.  We think that God is Present in certain places, things and people ... and somehow God (Omnipresence) is not in other places, things and people.  This can never be true.  God is just as Present in a nightclub as God is Present in churches, temples and other religious facilities.  God is just as Present when we are sick as when we are well, etc.  The only thing that may be missing is the "recognition that God is Present."  As Dr. O. C. Smith would often say, "there is no spot where God is not."

When we have "good" experiences ... we say that God is with us ... but God is also with us when we are broke, tired, sick and unhappy ... when we are sober and when we are drunk ... the Presence never becomes the "un-Present" or the "absent."  And we can find in scripture that the Great Mystics agree, "yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, Thou art with me."  How much clearer can this be?

Whatever we are experiencing ... we are not experiencing it alone ... God is always with us ... All-Ways Present ... and all we have to do is "recognize that It Is" ...  no matter how dire the condition may appear ... we may think we are failures ... we may think we will always be broke or sick .. and we may be ... for a moment or two ... in other words ... we may get knocked down ... but we can never be knocked out ... for Good ... God ... Is All-Ways Present.

 And So It Is!
