The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for July 24, 2016

All too often I have people tell me about experiences in their lives where they believe they have justification not to love someone and these discussions always reveal that many people do not know just what it means to love others.  I believe the most direct way to defining love is to say that it means to want for others what we want for ourselves.  And in this we would find ourselves realizing the best for ourselves as well.  This is the way of consciousness and no intelligent person can deny this as the truth.  Too often I encounter people who believe that what they "think of themselves" is all important in spiritual healing and demonstration and forget or fail to realize that in all things spiritual there is a universal correspondence.

In the Gospels of the Holy Bible there are many words attributed to the Master Mind Jesus but those who "authored" the words; that is, those who passed them along for a couple of centuries until they were put in print, did not realize the profound spiritual significance of his words which spoke to universal, immutable spiritual laws of mind and Spirit.  Not only did those who passed these words along and those who wrote them into the books of the Holy Bible not have the consciousness to go deeper in thought and mind to their profound meanings they didn't have the vocabulary to truly explain or define them.  We see great evidence of this lack of consciousness still in so many people today mostly perpetuated by ministers, preachers, pastors, priests and politicians.  It is as though the consciousness of spiritual things is devoid of evolution and intelligent analysis and reason.  Many of the religious will tell those who question some of the silliness of religious teachings that they must accept these things "on faith" ... but how strong is the faith of someone who blindly follows a concept or idea that defies intelligence?  We cannot discount the power of the mind for this power is derived from the One Mind which is Spirit, Life and Intelligence.  To think in our mind that we accept something on faith alone will not give us the confidence to move from illness into health or financial struggle into prosperity or a myriad of other seeming uncomfortable conditions we may be confronted with.  To realize "dis-ease" in our life does not mean we lack faith, but understanding.  An understanding that does not defy our intelligence or our faith.

The Master Mind Jesus' teaching that we are to
"love thy neighbor as thyself" and to "love one another" takes us into the realm of spiritual consciousness that unifies our mind, heart and soul with the Spirit that lives within us and everyone.  There is no "you and me" in Spirit.  There is only one.  Saint Augustine brought this truth forward in his words
"God loves each of us as if there were only one of us."  Yet, even those closest to Augustine didn't really get what he was revealing as the consciousness was not ready to realize this in that primitive era.  But, here we are over 1500 years later and still the consciousness of the masses is not ready and only the few who study spiritual philosophy are even familiar with his words even though it is a simple rephrasing of what the Master Mind Jesus was teaching.

We might want to think of our mind as fluid; that is, always taking different shapes and forms as new ideas, concepts and truths are introduced to our individual mind.  Much like a river that takes in the elements along its banks as the water flows through different environments.  This is a stretch for many to realize for we are individual yet universal in our mind.  And this is why our individual consciousness is affected by what we think and believe about others.  And it is in th
is realization of "I and the Father (Spirit, Intelligence and Power) are One" that the Master Mind Jesus could say without doubting that the "kingdom of G-d is within you."  Within us is that universal double-thread of individual and universal Mind.  Not only what we believe about ourselves and others affects our consciousness but the collective consciousness is effected as well.  We each have the ability and the intelligence to create within our soul (consciousness) the qualities that we want to experience in our life and in our world.

From the profound thinker, Emmet Fox: "Remember you can build any quality into your mentality by meditating upon that quality every day.  You have created your limited self by thinking you can destroy it at any moment by thinking a new pattern.

In reality, to "love thy neighbor as thyself" is to love what we have created in our own consciousness and to love what this consciousness is creating in the people in the world around us.

Keep the faith!
