history people have created gods in the image of mankind; even
goddesses. Throughout all the great religious and spiritual
literature there has been this idea of G-d in the image of mankind
influencing our cultures and religions. It is comforting to many
people to have an image of G-d that they can relate to. If you
do a simple Google image search of images of Jesus you will find that
in these images he is depicted with physical attributes that would
never be true of someone in the region of the world in which he was
born. And nowhere in the Gospels is there a definitive
description of Jesus that would give us any idea of his physical
appearance other than that he had long hair and lightning eyes.
What we do know is that he was born in Judea and that he was a Jew and
most likely didn't look starkly different than those around him.
Now, when it comes to images of Krishna and Buddha we find most images
are of a similar nature throughout history. It seems the
Europeans and Westerners didn't feel any necessity to give either
blonde hair and blue eyes as some have given Jesus.
that is so infinite in Its nature that mankind cannot conceive of an
image for portrayal is beyond religion. This Intelligence, Power
and Spirit woven into Love and Law must be sensed in the heart and the
soul without description. Can we make an image of either Love or
Law that encompasses all that they represent? Of course
not. But this is the reality that we must come to terms with in
order to align our mind to be in tune with the consciousness that is
at the source of all things. Even the great teachers of
metaphysics have struggled with G-d as Intelligence rather than G-d as
The mystical teacher/healer Joel
Goldsmith wrote: "You
are called upon to place your hope, your faith, your reliance, your
confidence, and your allness in the Spirit, in the Infinite Invisible,
instead of in the many forms in which the Invisible appears. As
you learn to withdraw your faith and your fear from the external world
and place your entire confidence in the Infinite Invisible, you are
sowing to the Spirit and you truly will reap life everlasting.
... As you ponder the idea of God as Law, you will see that there is
no way of appealing to God or praying to God, expecting some benefit
from God. That would be a violation of spiritual law, and even
God cannot violate His own law."
so we see that what we think about life determines what we realize in
our experience. This thought about life and age and illness and
all things becomes a law operating in our mentality and our soul
(consciousness). In other words, it is G-d as the law we create
for ourselves in operation. If we want to experience life fully
at any age or from any day forward from the date on our birth
certificate we must condition our mind to the law of life as gifted to
us by G-d ... not the Father-Mother God ... but the Intelligence,
Power and Spirit of G-d that responds to us by
corresponding/operating accordingly to the law of our mind.
SO IT IS!
