"The Art Of Being Yourself"
The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for August 27, 2017
believe in our prayer and the answer to it.”
... are the first words of Dr. O. C. Smith's
powerful affirmation. In this conviction of faith, all things
are possible for us that we can believe to be true for us.
What good desires give us a sense of being more alive and more
enthusiastic about life? These are ours to experience.
And so the question will follow; then why aren't we experiencing
them? And the answer to this question is different for all of
us. We have been conditioned by "the world" to
entertain doubt and fear in our mind. And most of us
experience these to differing degrees.
Some people are going through experiences that makes it almost
impossible for them to have hope ... to believe in something
better. In the midst of poverty, it may seem impossible to
believe in prosperity and financial abundance. In the midst of
a physical illness, it may seem impossible to believe in the
restoration of health. This is true for so many things.
It is this "conditioned" despair and hopelessness that
obstructs people from realizing the good health, the greater
For those who through faith and mental strength can find that few
moments in the eye of the storm to gain a sense of the greater good
and affirm its presence, though unseen, shall realize a movement in
consciousness that will expand into a connection with the power
inherent within them. This inherent power is of the nature of
G-d that creates through us in sometimes dynamic or even subtle ways
the good that we choose to experience. It is our imaginary
fears and doubts (in our mind) that cause so many of us to lose
faith with the power within our mind to heal, to prosper and to
bless us, even when all these overwhelming bad.
Our mind cannot function when it is tense. We always attract
the results of those things that we mentally dwell on. This is
true whether these things are of a positive or a negative
nature. It is imperative that we take the time to dwell on
those things that that are of the good. We avoid sickness by
dwelling a few moments on health each day and gaining a sense of
being healthy. With thoughts of health come thoughts of
happiness. With thoughts of prosperity come thoughts of
happiness; etc. Dwelling on the good even when going through
that which "appears" to be anything but good challenges us
mentally and for some even spiritually, yet there is no other way in
which to move though whatever it is that we desire to move through.
We are a
spiritual being living in a physical universal. This is the
truth. Our spirit (mind) rules and can overcome anything that
we have experienced in the past or are experiencing currently.
Just as there is calm in the eye of a storm or hurricane or typhoon,
there is calm in the center of our mind no matter what may be
happening around us or what we are going through. This is why
we can say with confidence just as the sage of Old: "...
I shall come forth as gold."
And so it is!
