"One
of the great difficulties in the contemporary study of Universal Laws is
that we are likely to indulge in too much theory and too little
practice. As a matter of fact, we only know as much as we can
prove by actual demonstration. That which we cannot prove may, or
may not, be true but that which we can prove certainly must be, and is,
the truth." -
(paraphrased) Dr. Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind
"Proverbs
16: Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be
established."
- The
Holy Bible, English Standard Version
There
is good reason why some early metaphysical writers filled their books
with everyday testimonies of people who demonstrated the results of
their prayers or spiritual treatments. Metaphysics is a practical
teaching that gives us tools to use our "mind power"
effectively in our every day lives. It has been proven over and
over again dating back to the teachings of Jesus and beyond. But,
none of that truly matters unless we can personally make the
demonstration. As Dr. Holmes once stated, "all may be
beautiful and abundant in the Universe, but unless you are personally
experiencing this beauty and abundance, it really makes no difference to
you." And in the Book of James we can read: 2:14
"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but
does not have works? Can that faith save him?" The
Science of Mind combined with the teachings of the Master Mind Jesus can
make a difference in our lives. It is not an esoteric teaching, it
is a teaching, that if put into practice, can change our lives in
dramatic ways. It is not based on "feeling good" ... but
demonstrating good in our lives. It is all well and good to be
cheerful and positive, but a false sense of cheer or positive-ness won't
change anything in our lives.
"What lies behind us and what lies
before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us,"
wrote Emerson, and this is true for every
one of us. No matter what it is that we seek to accomplish in
life, or what we desire to do, we can use spiritual treatment to bring
forth a greater success and prosperity in our experience. When we
formulate a spiritual treatment in our mind, we are drawing on that
which "lies within us" ... that is, the image and embodiment
of that which we seek to have or to experience ... what we imagine
ourselves to be or desire to accomplish.
Spiritual treatment can be used for
anything good that we desire to do, to be, or to have ... that is, as
long as it takes nothing away from anyone else. Let's take a look
at a practical example of what an effective daily spiritual treatment
would look like for a self-employed carpenter.
If I were a carpenter, I would
recognize, in my mind, that there is an Intelligence that permeates the
universe in which I live, and that this Intelligence is All-Knowing ...
not only does It know what to do, It knows how to do it. It is a
living presence in All things and in All people. There is nothing
that can obstruct this Intelligence, for It is G-d; It is All-Power,
All-Knowing and always available at the point at which It is recognized.
Having recognized what G-d Is , I
identify with It knowing that I am a part of this living presence, this
Intelligence and this Power ... I am in It and It is in me. I
accept this as the truth about me, and in doing so, I know what to do
and how to do what it is that I am to do. I know that since I am a
carpenter, G-d seeks to express Itself through me as a carpenter; a
successful, highly-skilled, and prosperous carpenter.
Having identified what G-d seeks to do
through me, I declare with confidence within myself, that as I go
through this day and every day, that God-in-me, knows what to do, and
does it. That this Presence that I recognize as a living presence,
guides me and directs me to a greater and greater success in all that I
do. I declare and know that this Intelligence knows who requires
my work as a carpenter, is willing to compensate me fairly for it, and
brings us together for our mutual benefit.
"The laborer is worthy of his hire,"
and I know that as I declare that this
Intelligence reveals to me the best that I can do, I willingly do my
best in all that I do, always open and receptive to new ideas and ways
to improve my skills and abilities to provide the best results possible
for my ever-increasing numbers of customers who value my work and who
are happy to pay for exceptional quality.
Right now, I accept that these words
activate the creative law and attract to me all that I have declared to
be so. I accept that this is the truth for me now, right now,
right where I am. I am filled with enthusiasm and gratitude as I
begin my day expecting that the words that I have spoken are revealed as
the truth in all things that concern me. I know that as I have
recognized G-d, identified with It, declared definitely and specifically
what I accept for myself, that my words are aligned with the creative
action that manifests my success and prosperity, now, through me, as me,
and for me. And for this, I am so very grateful for the presence
of God-in-me, surrounding me, pressing against me, and is everywhere
present. And so it is.
I know and I believe that this spiritual
treatment will benefit a carpenter or anyone else who consistently uses
it and gets in the spirit of it. There is a power in our mind, but
we must demonstrate that this is so, or otherwise we won't believe it is
so ... we may want to think it is, or hope it is ... but we won't know,
until we see the visible results gained from recognizing and identifying
with this power. Dr. Frank Richelieu included these powerful words
in his book, "The Art Of Being Yourself":
"Say to yourself right now: "There is only one infinite,
divine, perfect, governing Power and that Power is in me, of me, as me,
and for me right now." Hold fast to this thought. Give
it supremacy. You are not sweeping problems under the rug; you are
taking command of your own life. Let everything else be
subservient to the one governing Power. Everything!"
We must identify
within ourselves that success and abundant living are merely effects of
living in a greater awareness of G-d, Infinite Intelligence.
If I were a carpenter, a plumber, a banker, or a candlestick maker ... I
would seek to express the best of me as each of these ... for whatever
it is that I am now, I know and I know that I know, G-d seeks to express
something greater through me, as me, and for me, as I am doing the thing
that is before me to do.
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
