was it that Jesus proclaimed? "I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." He
was not talking about Jesus, he was talking about you.
Jesus gave us back to ourselves. How are you ever going to
consciously reach God other than through your own nature? There
are no prophets other than the wise. There is no God beyond Truth,
and no revelation higher than the realization of the Divinity within us.
That which the ages have failed to reveal, you and I must reveal; each
to himself in the secret chamber of his own heart, the secret place of
the Most High, where only and alone does one abide under the shadow of
the Almighty. This aloneness is not a loneliness; it is the one
all-inclusive, all-penetrating unity of everything that is."

As Dr. Holmes writes there
revelation higher than the realization of the Divinity within us."
history men and women have failed to realize this is a complex issue.
But, let's begin by engaging our minds into expanding our ability to
realize a greater measure of the Divine within us, now.
We can go back thousands of
years to the Book of Genesis 1:26-27 in the Bible and the Torah where it
was revealed that we are created in the image of G-d ... every one of
us. A few thousand years later the Master Mind Jesus declared,
"when you see me, you see the Father."
But, he was not
talking just about him personally, he was telling us all that this was
true of us too ... for when we see anyone, we see the potential for
love, for joy, for happiness, for peace, for harmony, for beauty and for
intelligence. These things of the Spirit are universal, in other
words, we are the Infinite ... infinitely individualized as an
expression of Its Life. Dr. Holmes writes:
"We are never alone, we are not isolated
fragments of creation, but are part of one great Whole."
We are part of G-d, part of
G-d is within each of us and as part of G-d, we are unified in the
Spirit with each other. And this is why what we see in someone
else, we can find within our selves. And in this, we can find many
of the beliefs that block us from expanding the good in our own personal
experiences. Most of us are familiar with the Law of Attraction
... more simply stated it is the law of "sowing and reaping"
... but our sowing is done in mind and we are not always conscious of
it. Few people realize that what they hold as true for others
becomes true for themselves to some degree. This is why no matter
what may appear to us, we get to name it ... in other words, mentally
choose how we are going to accept it in our consciousness. This is
why the Master Mind Jesus stated, "Do
not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous
Every judgment we make
against anyone, including ourselves, should be made from the perception
you see me, you see the Father."
In other words, we must look beyond the appearance, mentally, and see
the Divine Potential that is within everyone.
There are consequences to
our judgments. The degree of the consequences most often will
match the degree of energy in which we make the judgments. Just a
few weeks ago there was publicized evidence of this for all to see, and
I am sure most of you are aware of it:
"Bishop Eddie Long, one of the most
powerful men in the black megachurch movement, faced allegations of
taking sexual advantage of four teenage boys. Long is the Pastor
of a suburban Atlanta megachurch which claims 25,000 members. ... In
2007, the Southern Poverty Law Center called Long “one of the most
virulently homophobic black leaders in the religiously based anti-gay
movement.” ... In 2006, then-NAACP Chair Julian Bond called Long “a
raving homophobe” and refused to attend the funeral of Coretta Scott
King being held at Long’s church."
Whether Bishop Long is guilty of these
charges or not makes little difference in our understanding of the Law
of Attraction and how what we judge in others has consequences for us.
Bishop Long and his 25,000 suburban Atlanta members are now being viewed
differently in the eyes of the world. Why would 25,000
people follow a man that Julian Bond described as a "raving
homophobe" and let him lead them to "ignore" the
teachings of Jesus regarding judgment and loving one another? It is sad that these 25,000 people did not
realize that as they agreed with Long with what he saw in others, this
agreement would diminish their own ability to live satisfying,
successful and prosperous lives. As I stated previously,
this is complex.
This past week an 18-year old Freshman at
Rutgers University jumped to his death off the George Washington Bridge
because it was publicized over the Internet that he was a homosexual.
I don't believe that anyone at Bishop Long's church would realize that
they were part of putting the hate in the collective consciousness
against gay and lesbian people that caused this young man to end his
life ... but they are part of it, whether they are conscious of it or
In Nebraska the Governor is running a
campaign against undocumented immigrants, he too is hoping that the
people are ignorant of the Law of G-d and has lead many to ignore the
Truth that would bring greater prosperity to the State; that is, to make
the world a better place for everyone and therefore for themselves.
The congregation of Long's church and the supporters of the Governor of
Nebraska are not "ignorant" of the teachings of Jesus or the
Law of Sowing and Reaping ... they are "ignoring" it and
instead are allowing the lazy politicians and lazy preachers to
further their personal agendas. It is lazy to attempt to negate
the good of others, rather than seek to realize ideas that prosper and
bless all of us. It is to align ourselves with "lack"
and negates the good. We must make a demand upon our politicians
and preachers to be intelligent and stop being lazy ... as we make this
demand upon ourselves. G-d has a solution for all of us to enjoy
the abundant life ... but first it must be for All, for it to be brought
to our awareness and realized.
The Master Mind Jesus called us to "be in
the world but not of the world" and yet so many of us follow those
who would separate us rather than unify us still foolishly believing
that we can demonstrate that "heaven" ... whatever it may be
to us ... while we hold negative thoughts about others. The Master
Mind Jesus reminds us that this is impossible: “If
you do not love your brother whom you can see, how can you love God whom
you cannot see?” As Jesus knew, we cannot fully realize
the Love of G-d unless we hold in our consciousness a steadfast
commitment to respect life and that means to respect All of Life, for it
is All G-d.
I believe many of us
struggle to live consciously to our highest beliefs and ideas
about Life, about G-d, and about each other. I also believe that
we can identify
with that Something Greater within us and move from struggle to grace.
When our thoughts and beliefs are aligned with a respect for life, in
ourselves and in others, our mind is aligned with Truth, with G-d.
As we remind ourselves that we "respect life" we will find
that what appears to us is this same respect. As Dr. Holmes
taught, "That which the
ages have failed to reveal, you and I must reveal; each to himself or
herself, in the secret chamber of our own heart."
SO IT IS!
