As a Religious Science minister I teach the same principles taught by the Master Mind Jesus.  Religious Science is about "living these principles" not talking "about" them.  This past week I had the opportunity to live what I teach, to go beyond judgment and the opinions of others and practice my practice.  Heidi Fleiss, the Hollywood Madam, as she is most in-famously known, came to Palm Springs, at the Corridor, in fact, to speak and sign books.  As most of you are aware, I also present a program at the Corridor, so it was of interest to me that right where I present my spiritual program, Heidi Fleiss would be talking about her experiences as a madam.  In addition to this, a friend of mine who collects first-edition books, asked me to purchase her book for him and have it signed as he was unable to attend the book signing.

The books were put on sale prior to Heidi's appearance so I decided to go ahead and get the book for my friend.  As I stood at the book table someone who knew me came up to me and said, "are you going to buy her book?" ... to which I replied in the affirmative ... and then he said, "and you call yourself a minister."  Well ... I am a minister ... but I am not the kind of minister who can be offended or who finds much of anything offensive.  I will always remember this statement from Dr. O. C. Smith, "people do what they do in the consciousness that they do it in."  In other words, we are all doing the best we can with the measure of "best" that we are in consciousness.  To condemn someone's behavior is no different than to take a 3rd grader and put him/her in a calculus class and then berate them because they do not understand calculus.  Not only is judgment and condemnation un-spiritual it is also self-defeating ... "as you judge so shall ye be judged," stated Jesus.  In other words, as we set up a Law of Condemnation in our consciousness, we set ourselves up to validate the Law in our own experiences.

Without making any effort to do so, Heidi actually gave a very good lesson on the Law of Cause and Effect.  She stated that she was a madam for about 3 years and she spent 3 1/2 years in prison ... something that she never wants to do again.  She stated that during her 3 years as a madam she was always very aware that she was engaging in illegal activity ... and of course, the Law validated the effect that she was causing.

The Heidi Fleiss that I met at the Corridor seemed to be a very easy to get along with person and easy to talk with.  She was very open during her entire Q&A session and by all appearances was honest even when it was probably difficult to be so.  We had a nice little chat, for a few moments, as she signed the book for me and we made a little joke with the press about my being a minister ... as they flashed their cameras in our faces ... we both gave them the "peace sign" and shared the humor of the moment.  Heidi Fleiss, after all, is just like all of us ... doing the best she can in the consciousness that she does it in.
