The Way to a Wonderful Life Message for November 26, 2017

In reviewing the Merriam-Webster Dictionary's definition of "choice" I would like for us to keep these in mind as we read this message:  1) care in selecting; 2) the best part.  We are always choosing and making choices yet for many of us our choices have given us consequences we did not consciously choose for ourselves.  This is why a daily habit of consciously choosing that which we accept for our selves is so very important.

It is imperative that we examine the things we want and ask ourselves is this our best choice?  Are we taking the right amount of care in selecting that which we choose to pray for or affirm for ourselves?  We all have read that all prayers are answered.  We have also read that sometimes the answer to our prayers is no.  Both statements are correct but the one saying no and the one that is causing our prayers to go unanswered is our very own consciousness.  To better understand consciousness we may think of its synonym "soul."  It is a term used in the ancient wisdom frequently.  In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible which includes several Books of The Torah, the word "soul" appears over 750 times.  The great mystics throughout the ages believed that the soul is eternal.  Sometimes the word "spirit" is used interchangeably for soul.  In other words, both terms reference life and the invisible internal force that makes us an intelligent form of Life.

To make conscious choices selecting the best of what we desire to experience is not complex.  It is a matter of choosing that which makes our soul come alive to a greater degree.  It is to know that what we are choosing makes us feel happier, healthier and more accepting of the abundance that is available to us.  It is the choices that take us out of our comfort zones and make us more fully engaged in the game of Life (thank you Florence Scovel Shinn).  Too often people, on a subjective level, are frightened of failure so they fail to realize that which they consciously believe they desire.  Unless we are willing to take the time to displace the ghosts of failures past in our mind we shall find delays in realizing our desires; perhaps even a failure to realize them.

Displacing our negatives past and present in our experience begins by making new choices and making them with confidence.  The more we center our mind on the best we can think of for ourselves the less we will be troubled in our mind with the negatives; fears, doubts, worries, superstitious stuff.  Consider the words from the ancient wisdom "ask and you shall receive."  Most people will say these words are too good to be true.  Or they have asked already a thousand times for something and they still don't have it.  But, unanswered prayer or ineffective affirmations can be corrected when we understand the Principle behind the words.  A simple illustration of the "mind-set" that we must have; or perhaps the attitude that we must gain a sense of in our mind, is the action in mind we take when we give a Valet Parking Attendant our ticket.  We ask, in other words, we claim that which we know is ours.  When we can think, speak, visualize into the Great Invisible with this same sense of "claiming" the choice things for ourselves we shall receive them.

Think on these words from The Course In Miracles which I will offer here without modification: "Your claim to miracles does not lie in your illusions about yourself. It does not depend on any magical powers you have ascribed to yourself, nor on any of the rituals you have devised. It is inherent in the truth of what you are. It is implicit in what God your Father is. It was ensured in your creation, and guaranteed by the laws of God."

And so it is!
