"Jesus is often described as being poor, without a place to lay His head.  But He was welcomed into the homes of both the rich and poor all over Palestine.  He dressed as a rabbi, and His clothing was so fine that the soldiers at the cross cast lots for His seamless robe.  He could go forth without script or purse because He went back of money to the idea it represents and dealt with substance in the realm of ideas.  He had discovered the key to releasing the tremendous power-potential within Him.  He found the supernatural natural.
Let us not lose sight of the great "idea" that Jesus is unfolding - that man is an integral part of an opulent Universe.  All we need to do is "ask" in faith, believing that we will receive, and we shall receive.  Because asking is receiving.  The very moment we stake our claim in Infinite Mind, that which we encompass is ours, along with the creative ability to shape it in the form of our material needs."
- Eric Butterworth, Discover The Power Within You

The great Eric Butterworth is reminding us by providing something that we already know ... so that we can take these words into our mind as the Truth.  Butterworth points out something that should be obvious to everyone ... "Jesus found the supernatural natural" ... and if we want to realize our greatest and best, we must discover our way to realize the supernatural as natural to us as well.  We don't have to go through challenging experiences, struggles, disappointments or heartache to do so.  We can discover the supernatural with joy and love.  We begin by realizing in our mind that to "love G-d with all our heart and with all our soul and all our mind" means to make G-d a "priority" in our lives ... that is our communion with G-d, our recognition of G-d's Presence in our lives ... not just on Sunday morning or when we are listening to a spiritual lesson on the radio.  Both G-d and faith are ideas.  How we see these ideas as important to us will determine what we can draw to us from them and with them.

When we pray for health or prosperity or success or that something greater that we desire to experience in their lives, it will benefit us greatly to contemplate what the idea behind these are to us.  If we pray for health, what is our idea of health?  If we pray for prosperity, or success or something else, what is our idea of it?   As we bring into our mind our idea of the form; the kind, the sort, and the nature of what it is that we pray for, then we can gain a greater sense of the "ideal" ... which is what this "idea" is guiding us to.  Too often people accept the lesser when the greater is available.  If our mind can conceive it, it is available to us and we can receive it providing we don't get stuck thinking about the symbol rather than the idea that it represents.

In one of my classes at the church here in Palm Springs I asked my students what money represented to them.  Almost everyone stated that it represented "security" ... and this is something that the majority of people, I believe, would say.  Yet, we know that money comes and goes and more than a few people who have amassed great wealth have ended up with financial loss.  And so we realize that if we pray for "the consciousness of security" most of us we shall demonstrate, or draw into our experience those things that give us a feeling of being secure.  Money may be one of these things but it may not.  In the Gospel of Matthew 19:16-22, we find the Master Mind Jesus attempting to explain this to his disciples:  "16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
In other words, the young man had made "material wealth" his symbol of "security" and could not loose this "false idea" from his mind.  The "treasure in heaven" that the Master Mind Jesus was referring to is "consciousness" ... it is the consciousness of security that we must see as our "security" not the symbol; the money, the stocks and bonds, etc.  This consciousness is aware of security as an idea, but contemplates it to the point of its ideal.

Eric Butterworth tells us that; "Jesus taught that when you have a need, the answer is right where you are.  The miracle may not be in the way it manifests, but in the ever-availability of "ideas" ... of guidance, of all things working together for good.  You may be guided to go fishing, or to get a job, or to "break" the loaves and fishes.  But there is abundance for you - if you accept it. ... We may wonder why some people have so much hardship, whereas for others everything turns to gold.  The rationalization from the confused religion about Jesus is that the poor will be rewarded in some future heaven.  Jesus puts it very simply:  "For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath" (Matthew 13:12).  This is not so difficult to understand as at first it might seem.  He is saying, "Hold your cup under the faucet of abundance.  The empty cup is filled to running over.  If the cup is held upside down, not only will it not be filled, but anything it had in it is poured out. ... In this wonderfully accommodating Universe, if you have the consciousness of abundance - if you feel rich - you will claim riches and accept abundance and your cup will be filled. ... Understanding this Truth - much as we resist the thought - "the rich do get richer, and the poor do get poorer."  We may want to change this principle, but it is universal law.  You may not like all the implications of gravity, but you can't change it.  You can only be mighty careful that you do not step off high places."  And this we must realize in our mind as we bless the "ideas" that draw into our awareness the ideals of our health, our wealth, our success, and all things good that come to us as a desire to be experienced.

Keep the faith!
