The Way to a Wonderful Life, Sunday, December
Listen to the Radio Broadcast of this
so it is Christmas" and from all appearances there seems to
be a great shift in the minds of many people about what Christmas means
to them. For some it is a time of giving and joy and remembering
all those who have been a part of their lives. And this spirit
that seems to touch the lives of so many, is that part of Spirit that
moves through our hearts with a feeling of love and generosity.
What better way to imitate the givingness of the Spirit than to give
with joy to those who share our life experience. Not everyone
celebrates the revealing of "the Christ"
at Christmas and not everyone truly embraces Jesus at Christmas
either. Yet, that spirit of love and givingness that fills the
atmosphere is the Spirit that Jesus told us was within us and
omnipresent ... all Presence, everywhere.|
"Abiding in [God] means having no consciousness separate from
consciousness - nothing in our thought which denies the power and
presence of Spirit [*in all people and all living things]." -
Ernest Holmes , The Science of Mind & Spirit
The stories in the Bible are
wonderful ... and most of them have been expanded throughout the ages.
The baby born in a manger, arouses our sentimentality. And it is
an effective allegory to explain the birth of a "higher
consciousness" into the world, as embodied by Jesus of
Nazareth. This simple story has been depicted throughout the ages
in art, religion, theatre and film, beautifully. However, the
story contains a great deal of embellishment from the original allegory.
If you don't think the stories in the
Bible were embellished ... think about it ... is anyone on Earth capable
of living a spiritual life 100% of the time? I don't think so.
These were people just like you and me; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John ...
all men, with the same mentality, emotionality, and physicality as you
and me. Each of them, just like you and me, had the capability to
actualize Truth in their experiences ... and they did ... but not 100%
of the time, I assure you.
celebrate the Mystical Jesus, because He revealed to us that G-d has
imparted a "finite" part
of Its "Infinite" Spirit
in each of us. He demonstrated what He taught and gave us evidence
of the Truth of Absolute Principle. And so we can say as did the
early mystics, "in the Spirit, I live
and move and have my being" ... and "in me, Spirit lives and
seeks to express Itself through me, as me, and for me."
Like no other before Him or after Him, the Master Mind Jesus
demonstrated this as the Truth of our Being. His teaching through
the use of simple yet profound parables, made the Law of G-d, so simple
that even children could understand it. He taught the world that
G-d's Infinite Love is for everyone ... "no
respecter of persons." We are
all part of G-d's Infinite Life ... expressing through all living
The Mystical Jesus' question, "don't
ye know that ye are gods?" ... has yet
to be fully answered, for our quest to find G-d within has been hindered
by religion's quest to keep G-d separate and apart from us. And in
so doing, have separated us from each other. Religious intolerance
continues to permeate the race consciousness as religions use fear to
gain faith for religion at the expense of our faith in G-d and G-d
alone. Jesus taught, "you will
know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free."
By and large, religions don't want us to worship G-d in freedom ... but
according to their man-made doctrines, dogmas and opinions. "Truly,
I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom
of God before you." Jesus stated this
to an ancient culture ... but His words in Matthew 21:31 are just as
true of many of our religious leaders today throughout the world.
For most of us this is the darkest and coldest
time of the year and what a great time to celebrate the "Light
of the World" ... that "spark of the Divine"
within each of us as revealed by the Glorious Jesus. It is a time
for gift giving and exchanging, singing of songs, Holiday parties and
bright lights and Santa Claus. Many of the things that we do to
celebrate Christmas have little to do with the birth of Jesus, but have
been added to the celebration throughout history. Decorating a
tree with ornaments and bright lights, gift giving, Santa Claus, Elves
and reindeer ... had nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. But
for most of us, these activities and Holiday Characters, bring a greater
sense of joy and love into our lives. All of these ideas
originated in Creative Mind, and as they were accepted and created in
the physical, each of them serve a purpose aligned with Infinite Love
... the giving-ness of Itself through Its Creation to Its Creation.
The Spirit of Christmas ... is the "Christ"
within us ... the In-Dwelling Presence of Infinite Love, expressing
through our hearts and minds as we give and are given to. This
spirit of joy and love is authentic within us .... for It is the "likeness"
of G-d within us. The Mystical Jesus embodied this awareness and
evidenced it when He declared, "The
Father and I are One" ... and this "I"
within you and me are One with the Father too ... and also One with each
other. This "infinite I"
binds us to G-d and to each other. Although this is the
Truth, it was a very bold statement for Jesus to make ... but He knew
that the "Power of Love was greater
than those who worshiped the love of power"
and filled with the Power of Love, He was fearless ... and stood
steadfast for the Truth.
It is a disturbing reality
that the persona of Jesus is becoming more important than His message in
our current times. And yes, He has been highly misunderstood, but
then Greatness has almost always been misunderstood throughout history.
His language was that of a mystic, subjective ... and in its
subjectivity ... it is open to interpretation. In metaphysics, we
understand that His language was affirmative ... and evolutionary.
His goal was not that His teachings be the basis for a religion ... but
to expand on the philosophy of Judaism. Judaism is a monotheistic
religion which believes that the world was created by a single,
all-knowing divinity, and that all things within that world were
designed to have meaning and purpose as part of a divine order.
Jesus realized that religious dogma defied that Truth that G-d is the
All-ness; Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient ... always Present, all
Power, Intelligence. And this is the consciousness that He was
seeking to have realized in the minds of those who He was teaching.
the Gospel of Matthew
we can read: "For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
is one of the greatest psychological truths espoused by the Master Mind
Jesus. We do not become accomplished by doing something that we do
not love. Our relationships are not attractive to us if we do not
love those with whom we are involved with. Everything is guided by
the heart ... and the heart is the center of the Sub-conscious Mind.
The guiding force of Power in our lives. Jesus ... "Love
is your true self, which springs forth from God, the indefinable
everlasting fountain of existence."
so it is Christmas" ... what better time to seek to know more about
the Mystical Jesus and the triumph of His spirit here on earth.
His life was no fairytale and although there are those who believe they
can speak for Him, they can only speak about Him. He was one of a
kind ... a unique infinitely individualized spirit of G-d ... just like
you and me.
SO IT IS!
